A Guide to Relocating to Montreal with Kids

Children can be harsh critics sometimes. They won’t sit around politely waiting for us to finish our work and only the most enrapturing entertainment will hold their attention for long. Luckily, Montreal is brimming with loads of fun and exciting activities for the entire family. If you ever find yourself in Montreal, these are the best things to do with your kids.

La Ronde

The largest amusement park in Quebec, operated by Six Flags, is the first attraction to head to for laughter and thrills from May – October. La Ronde features classic adrenaline pumping rides as well as family and kid friendly rides. The Tour de Ville lifts visitors into the air for a gentle swing on a carousel tower, and the Joyeux Moussaillons lets children be the captain of the family on their own wooden boats. Biodome + Botanical Garden + Insectarium + Planetarium

Within the same vicinity lies the Biodome, Botanical Gardens, Insectarium, and Planetarium. Collectively known as the Montreal Space for Life, this area holds enough entertainment for your kids for days. Each space has its own unique delights to enrapture and educate any young mind from insects to animals, to planets to plants.Planetarium montreal

Atrium Le 1000

A visit to Montreal is never complete without a bit of ice skating. Atrium Le 1000 lets the entire family experience a beautiful scenic skate, being located on the main floor of Quebec’s tallest building and having a glass dome roof. You don’t need to worry about those hot summer months either – the rink is open year round! For any family members that are new to the sport of skating, Atrium Le 1000 offers lessons for any skill level.Skating rink in Montreal

Montreal Science Centre

Learning about science doesn’t have to be dull. The Montreal Science Centre proves it by providing endless games, interactive exhibitions, and surprising discoveries for everyone to enjoy. There’s always something special happening, as in addition to their permanent exhibitions, new temporary exhibitions are always being introduced. Furthermore, an IMAX theatre creates a stunning image to pull any visitor into their educational movies.Kids playing in Montreal Science Centre

Cacao 70

Treating your kids doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself too. Cacao 70 has rich and creamy chocolate desserts to satisfy any child’s sweet tooth. Fondue dishes let your children have a fun experience dipping bite sized pieces of fruit or waffle into their own personal chocolate pool, or treat them to a “chocolate pizza” to share. Adults can have their own fun, as Cacao 70 features a chocolate beer, or gives the option of adding an alcohol shot to one of their many exotic hot chocolates.Delicious chocolate plate Montreal
